Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
When a patient shows neurological symptoms or infectious
or tumor-related damage that could cause serious health
problems, there are two ways to diagnose: Resonance
Imaging (MRI) and Computerized axial tomography (CT
scan), which makes it easier to evaluate brain,
medullar, joint, vascular disorder or that facilitate
the timely diagnosis of damage or tumors in soft tissue.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
For this test, you will be placed on a sliding table,
inside a magnetic tunnel, that emits sound. HCB provides
you with earplugs for your comfort.
Magnetic alterations in your body can be found and then
can be computer-processed to form an image. The
radiologist will then evaluate the printed image. This
is a painless procedure, however, it takes longer than a
CT scan. Hospitalization is not required and no
antibiotics are used.
Computerized axial tomography (CT scan)
This test uses X-Rays through your body, head, joints
and spine, which are sent to detectors that surround
you. The image resulting can be examined by the
radiologist and sent to your doctor.
Images are printed using high technology laser in a film
similar to the one used in radiography; a special
feature of the equipment used at HCB.
HCB also has the support from telemetry, which can send
images via satellite to personnel at OCHSNER.

Corporate Medical Check-up Program
Cancer and many cardiovascular and chronic diseases
might be prevented by a basic medical check-up. As a
result, you could increase your quality of life and
thereby diminish health costs.
HCB Preventive Medical Program has two phases:
During the morning, several tests and physical
analyses are conducted. They begin at 7:15 a.m. and
last
from two to four hours, as required.

In the afternoon, a consultation with an Internist is
arranged. The specialist examines and explains
the
various results and indicates the necessary actions.

This program can be adapted to the individual needs of
companies, providing a chance to create their own
Preventive Medical Program. The program:

Provides lab tests.
Detects cholesterol or diabetes problems, and
coronary-disease risk factors.
Determines the condition of kidneys and prostate; and
checks for anemia, infection,
inflammation,
and intestinal bleeding through a fecal occult blood
test.
Provides radiology tests.

A chest X-ray examines the general condition of the
lungs general state and the size of the heart. An
ultrasound is used to establish the condition of the
most important abdominal organs, and mammograms are used
for early detection of abnormalities in breast tissue
(for women over 35 years old).
Cardiac Tests
An electrocardiogram (ECG) is used to analyze the
heart's electrical activity. It also determines
irregular heartbeats or cardio rhythm problems.
Those who are over 45 take a treadmill test, which
evaluates heart performance during the highest point of
exercise (controlled by the doctor and a technician).
This test detects coronary obstructions, arteries
pressure response to the exertion, cardiac arrhythmias
produced by the exertion, and others.
Gastroscopy
This determines the state of the esophageal and gastric
walls and reveals any abnormal tissue growth, the
presence of the bacteria H. pylori, gastric ulcers and
chronic gastritis.
Recommended for people from 45 years and up.
A consultation with a specialist: Examination,
interview, medical history, and a general report of
health based on the obtained results.

specific antigen (PSA), Basic urine test,
Feces examination, Fecal occult blood test.
